The Iron Eagles
Brentwood Academy's robotics program was founded in 2013 by former BA physics teacher Wendy Stallings, and in its first year the team of five won the state competition, going on to compete in the 2014 VEX Robotics World Championship competition. Since then, the Iron Eagles has grown to include more than 40 students and earned several state and national titles.
The VEX Robotics Competition, presented by the Robotics Education & Competition Foundation, is the largest and fastest growing middle school and high school robotics program globally with more than 20,000 teams from 50 countries playing in over 1,700 competitions worldwide. Each year, an exciting engineering challenge is presented in the form of a game. Students, with guidance from their teachers and mentors, build innovative robots and compete year-round.

Community Involvement
The Iron Eagles team is committed to helping others get involved with robotics and sharing our skills with others. Throughout the years we have mentored new robotics teams at other schools, hosted tournaments and workshops, trained and mentored volunteers and teachers from other schools so they could start their own programs, and participated in Nashville’s Mini Maker Faire, allowing other students and attendees to see what it’s like to drive a robot!
