  • What classes do you offer?

    We have Monday, Wednesday, or Thursday classes for grades K-2nd and 3rd - 5th.

    Monday:
    4:00-5:00 PM grades K-2nd
    5:00-6:00 PM  grades 3rd-5th

    Wednesday:
    4:30-5:30 grades 3rd-5th

    Thursday:
    4:30-5:30 PM grades K-2nd

    In addition to our regular classes, this year, we will offer an AXIS Company for more technique training beyond the regular weekly classes on Sunday from 3:00- 4:30 PM. Email Robyne for details on AXIS Company opportunities.

  • What styles of dance do you teach?

    Each class will cover ballet, tap, jazz, hip hop, pom and tumbling.

  • When do classes start?

    Classes will begin the week of September 6 and go through May 26.

  • What do I need for class?

    All of our classes require dancers to come in clothing that is comfortable to move in.  No street clothes, please! We do not have a required dress code, with the exception of our show requirements. (Pink canvas ballet shoes, pirouettes, black tie tap shoes and comfortable running/tennis shoes) We partner with Bellissimo Dance Boutique for all of our dancewear needs.

  • What should I do if my child will be absent from class?

    Email, call or text Robyne Kennedy, Dance Director to inform her of your child’s anticipated absence.

  • In the event of inclement weather, how will I know if there is class?

    All parents will be notified by email if class is cancelled due to weather. You may check this AXIS webpage for an update, a recording on the studio voicemail (615-373-4764 ext: 612) or the AXIS Facebook page.

  • Do you have a recital each year and are all dancers required to participate?

    We have an end of the year performance where the AXIS dancers will join in on the annual BA Dance Show!  We would love for all students to participate in our performance, but we do not require them to do so. Performances are wonderful opportunities for dancers to showcase the skills they learn throughout the year. This year’s show will take place in May 2022.

  • When is the dance show parent meeting?

    Tuesday, March 29 at 6:00 PM in the BA dining hall.

  • When do I pay for recital costumes?

    Recital costume fees are due December 1.

  • Why do I pay for recital costumes in December when the recital is not until May?

    Recital costumes are ordered from various costume companies. The companies do not stock the costumes. They make them once they receive an order; therefore, it may take several months for the costume to even be shipped.

Robyne Kennedy

Robyne has been the BA dance director and head coach for the prestigious Academy Dancers for 14 years and has been teaching in the Middle Tennessee area for over 20 years at various studio and school teams. She has led the Academy Dancers to 8 national titles and currently the 2021 NDA National Champions! Her sought after dance camps always have a wait list and the idea of creating classes to our community came from the success of not only the BA dance program but our summer dance camps.

Robyne’s philosophy is to instruct dance in a positive manor, to create intelligent dancers who are not only technically brilliant, but creative, driven, confident and passionate about dance.

We welcome any dancer from any elementary school.
