UPPER SCHOOL DIRECTOR

ANDY BRADSHAW

"We are grateful for your partnership with us in your student’s upper school experience. As Upper School Director, my desire is to nurture and challenge our students in order to prepare them for success in and beyond college. In addition to the numerous honors and Advanced Placement classes offered as part of our college preparatory curriculum, students are encouraged to participate in a wide variety of co-curricular opportunities in fine arts, athletics, robotics, and more. We believe a student's time in the upper school is an important stage where God will equip each one to play his or her unique part in His larger story."

What is it like to be a Brentwood Academy student?

The answer can be found on the faces of students engaged in all aspects of student life—learning both inside and outside the classrooms, visiting with friends in the hallways and on the Quad, participating in athletic events as a team member or fan, sharing small and large group devotions and Bible study, or enjoying the varied fine arts opportunities.

UPPER SCHOOL
CHRISTIAN LIFE

Students in the upper school begin each day with scripture reading and prayer before beginning their first block class curriculum. Beginning in the 2024-2025 school year, students will have the opportunity to take a course in Bible and Christian living every year during their tenure in the upper school.

Christian Life at Brentwood Academy involves not only the classroom, but the playing field, the band room, and the hallways too. We believe that everything is spiritual and Jesus Christ gives everything purpose. Outside of the classroom, upper school students gather weekly for chapel to engage in collective worship and to hear a devotion message from a Christian Life faculty member, guest speaker, or peer. But, perhaps, the highlight of upper school Christian Life is the Senior Theme Verse Retreat. Every summer, the rising senior class gathers for a time intentionally focused on the Lord, renewal, and fellowship.

Every faculty and staff member at BA has a personal and growing relationship with Christ. While the religious beliefs of each student will be respected, the school will continuously teach biblical truths and values.

STUDENT

ACADEMIC SUPPORT

Student Academic Support is structured by team members responsible for monitoring the academic progress of each student and promoting effective communication between students, grade chairs, faculty, and parents. The department empowers students to take ownership of their academic progress and make appropriate decisions toward their academic goals.

Specialized study halls in middle school promote a philosophy of individual responsibility and encourage each student to value and contribute to his or her educational experience. Students develop the skills needed to reach academic and individual goals, become leaders within the school community, and pursue successful and productive lives grounded in Christian values.
