Brentwood, TN - (December 14, 2023) Long-time TSSAA Division-II coach Paul Wade has joined Brentwood Academy as head football coach of the Eagles.
Coach Wade comes to BA from Donelson Christian Academy where he has served as an educator and head football coach since 2018, leading the 0-10 Wildcats to a state championship in just four years. He is a fixture in TSSAA Division II having coached previously at Ensworth (eight years under Ricky Bowers), Davidson Academy, and Christ Presbyterian Academy during his prior 26 years of coaching.
In his 32 years of coaching in Division II, Coach Wade’s teams made 12 trips to the State Finals. This includes four State Championships as a head coach and seven as an assistant/associate head coach. Wade has coached 21 Tennessee Mr. Football finalists and seven Mr. Football winners. More than 68 former players of Coach Wade have gone on to play college football, including five at the professional level.
“We are extremely excited to make this coaching announcement,” says Athletic Director and Dean of Community Engagement Jason Mathews. “Coach Wade has been building football teams for years and works to get the most out of each individual student-athlete. More importantly, he also excels in building character, resilience, and a strong work ethic in his players. Coach Wade will not be outworked, and the Brentwood Academy football team is in excellent hands.”
Paul Wade shares, “I am incredibly humbled and honored to be named the next head football coach at Brentwood Academy. My wife Mindi and I are so excited about this next season in our lives. BA is, and has been, a fixture in the Christian independent school arena for a long time and its athletic program speaks for itself. I am also grateful to the DCA community for the past six years and all the incredible memories we created. With that, I am excited to get to see the BA mission at work firsthand and join in to use football as a tool to help grow and nurture young men.”
Wade is the 2022 National Football Foundation & College Hall of Fame “Bonnie Sloan” Courage Award Winner. He and his wife Mindi have two adult sons.
