MARSHALL SMITH '92 NAMED TENNESSEAN MID-STATE GIRLS' COACH OF THE YEAR
Coach Marshall Smith has been recognized multiple years for his leadership of the boys’ cross country team. This year, Coach Smith was asked to take on double-duty and coach the varsity girls’ team as well. In his first year coaching both teams, the girls won the state title. Ellie Mullican ’20, the girls’ team manager, said it was so fun practicing with the boys and that the team has never been closer because of working together under Coach Smith. The Tennessean honored Coach Smith with the Girls’ Coach of the Year for 2019.
