Campus life at BA is centered upon strong relationships and a close-knit community. Students, as well as parents, have multiple opportunities to get involved on and off campus. There are many ways to support one another in extracurricular activities, service, and fellowship.

What is it like to be a Brentwood Academy student?

The answer can be found on the faces of students engaged in all aspects of student life—learning both inside and outside the classrooms, visiting with friends in the hallways and around the campus, participating in athletic events as a team member or fan, sharing small and large group devotions and Bible study, or enjoying the varied fine arts opportunities.

WAYS TO GET INVOLVED

GRADE BUDDIES

The Grade Buddy program is designed to serve new 8th-12th graders in their transition to Brentwood Academy. Each new student is paired with a current BA student in his or her grade who serves on the Student Leadership Team or in the Student Ambassador program.

BIG BROTHER/BIG SISTER

 All new 6th and 7th grade students are assigned a junior or senior student to serve as their Big Brother or Big Sister at Brentwood Academy. The intention of this program is for our Big Brothers and Sisters to form families with their friends and their little Brothers and Sisters as a way to facilitate interaction and community prior to the start of school.

STUDENT AMBASSADORS

This is a select group of students who embody the ideals of Brentwood Academy and represent the institution as official hosts and hostesses to the greater Nashville community. The goal is to nurture strong relationships between prospective families, alumni, donors, and community members. 

STUDENT LEADERSHIP TEAM

The Upper School SLT is a coed group of 9th-12th grade students with the mission to “serve as role models who live out the mission of the school, create leadership opportunities for others within the school, and facilitate action based on needs shared by the faculty and students."

ADVISORY GROUPS

Every student at BA is assigned an advisory group that meets weekly and serves as a space for students to grow individually while building meaningful relationships with peers and faculty. The three main goals of advisory time are group bonding, faith building, and character development.    

In middle school, advisory groups are made of all-boy or all-girl students in the same grade. Every year, middle school students will receive a new advisory group placement. This allows students to have the opportunity to form relationships with more people in their grade as they move through these foundational years. 

In upper school, the advisory experience will shift. Upper school advisory groups are divided by gender but are comprised of students from each grade, 9th-12th. Students will keep the same general group and advisor each year in the upper school. This allows the crucial elements of leadership, discipleship, and mentorship to organically arise between students. It also gives each student an advisor who will follow and support them throughout their upper school experience at BA.  

The long-standing advisory group tradition is vital to our mission of nurturing and challenging each whole person – body, mind, and spirit – to the glory of God.

8TH GRADE TRIP

8th grade students travel to Orlando, Florida in March for the annual 8th grade trip to solidify relationships before heading off to the upper school in the fall.

Winterim provides opportunities for students to work closely with faculty in non-traditional travel courses to expand their knowledge beyond present experiences and encourage a love of learning.

WINSTON: BA FACILITY DOG

Perhaps the most loved "faculty member" at Brentwood Academy is Winston. As BA's facility dog, he is an active member of the community. He can be seen around campus greeting with high-fives in the hallway, participating in daily cleanup, helping out in advisory groups, and offering additional emotional support to students visiting BA School Counselor, Mrs. Hall.

SERVICE DAY

Twice a year, students and faculty participate in Joe Campbell Service Day. This day is named after Joe Campbell, a beloved BA faculty member whose life was characterized by his commitment to serving others. During JCSD, students leave campus to serve in the community with organizations committed to caring for our city and neighbors.
