BA Names Head Girls' Basketball Coach

— DAN WILKERSON TAPPED TO LEAD BRENTWOOD ACADEMY GIRLS' BASKETBALL PROGRAM —

Brentwood, TN - (April 8, 2024 ) Former Brentwood Academy assistant girls’ basketball coach Dan Wilkerson will step into the role of head coach for the Eagles.

Wilkerson began his coaching career at Middle Tennessee Christian School, where he also served as the Athletic Director. As head coach, his teams set the school wins record (25-8), had five 20-win seasons, and appeared in four sub-state games. While serving as head coach at Nashville Christian School, he was Region Coach of the Year and led his team to their first trip to the state tournament in 38 years. During his time at Brentwood Academy, he has served as a varsity assistant in the boys’ program to state-semifinal and state championship finishes. He previously served as a varsity assistant under Rhonda Brown, winning four state titles in seven consecutive trips to the state championship game during his tenure. Most recently, Dan was an assistant on the staff of BA’s HVAC Champion Middle School girls’ team.

Brentwood Academy Athletic Director Jason Mathews shares, “Dan has the ability to set a foundation for our program while also being committed to establishing life-long relationships with his players. He knows how to win through a solid, strategic, and data-driven coaching style. He’s a defensive-minded coach who has proven to lead teams to championship.”

Kelsey Ogden will assist Coach Wilkerson as head coach. Ogden is currently the Assistant Athletic Director but will transition into a new role as Admission Counselor and assistant coach for varsity girls’ basketball alongside Dan, whom she previously coached with at Nashville Christian before serving as Head Coach at Davidson Academy. As a scholarship athlete, Ogden played four years at Lipscomb University and then coached for two additional years under coach Greg Brown.

“Both Dan and Kelsey are familiar with our school and our mission and care about the development of our young women on and off the court. I am excited about the future of girls’ basketball at BA and look forward to this next era,” adds Mathews.
